Step-by-step guide to uploading your data, generating charts with natural language and building a live dashboard with filters, scorecards and tables — without writing any code.
Build an AI Analytics Dashboard in 5 Minutes
Genysys.ai lets you go from a raw CSV file to a polished, interactive analytics dashboard in under five minutes — without writing a single line of code. Here's exactly how.
Step 1: Upload Your Data (30 seconds)
Click Add Files on the Chat page and select your CSV or Excel file (up to 10 MB). Genysys.ai automatically:
- Profiles your data (row count, column types, null percentages)
- Suggests a cleaning plan (fix date formats, normalise column names, handle missing values)
- Shows a Before / After preview so you can accept or skip
You can also click Connect Database to link MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite or MSSQL — or click Google Sheets to connect a spreadsheet by URL.
Step 2: Generate Charts (1 minute each)
Type any business question in the chat box:
- "Show total sales by region as a bar chart"
- "What are the top 10 customers by revenue?" (generates a table)
- "Plot monthly order trend as a line chart"
- "Show me a correlation heatmap of all numeric columns"
The AI generates Python + Plotly code, runs it in under 40 seconds, and returns an interactive chart you can hover, zoom and download as CSV.
Step 3: Add Charts to Your Dashboard
Below each chart, click + Add to Dashboard. Choose an existing dashboard or create a new one. Your dataset is automatically linked so filters and Refresh work immediately.
Step 4: Add KPI Scorecards
Type: "Give me scorecards for total revenue, order count and average order value."
Three compact KPI tiles appear — each showing a metric name and bold number. Add them to your dashboard. Place them in a row at the top for an instant summary.
Step 5: Add Filter Panels (30 seconds)
In your dashboard's "Ask AI to add a panel" box, type: "Add a filter for Region."
A multi-select dropdown appears showing all unique regions. Selecting values instantly re-runs all charts, tables and scorecards with the filtered data. Multiple filters apply simultaneously.
Step 6: Arrange Your Dashboard
- Move panels: drag from the ⠿ grip icon in the panel title bar.
- Resize panels: drag the bottom-right ⌟ corner.
- Rename panels: double-click any title to edit inline.
- View fullscreen: click the ↗ expand icon on any chart.
All layout changes save automatically.
Step 7: Use Auto Analysis for a Full Report
Click Auto Analysis in the left sidebar. Genysys.ai scans your entire dataset and returns 5–10 charts with a full written report covering key trends, outliers and recommendations — without you writing a single query.
Dashboard Best Practices
- Put KPI scorecards in a row at the top — instant summary for anyone who opens the dashboard.
- Use one filter panel per dimension (Region, Product, Time Period) — all filters combine automatically.
- Use descriptive panel titles — "Revenue by Region (YTD)" is better than "Bar Chart 1".
- Limit to 8–12 panels — more panels make dashboards harder to read.
- Use Refresh all after uploading updated data to keep all panels current.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I build an analytics dashboard without coding?
Upload a CSV to Genysys.ai, ask questions in plain English, and click “+ Add to Dashboard” after each chart. Add filter panels and KPI scorecards the same way — by typing requests. A full dashboard can be built in under 5 minutes.
Q: Can I refresh my dashboard when my data changes?
Yes. Click Refresh all in the dashboard toolbar to re-run every panel against the current dataset. For database-connected charts, this pulls the latest live data.
Q: Does the dashboard remember my dataset?
Yes. When you add charts from the Chat page to a dashboard, the dataset is automatically linked. The next time you open the dashboard, the dataset is restored — no re-upload needed.
